Siddu will clarify on his statement: DKS

Indicating all is not well in the Congress, KPCC President DK Shivakumar distanced himself from Leader of Opposition Siddaramaiah’s statement on the hijab and pontiffs, and said he has already tweeted in this regard.

He told reporters here on Saturday that Siddaramaiah has a lot of respect for pontiffs of all castes and communities. Besides, he had shown his largesse to various mutts when he was the chief minister. “Our CLP leader will give a reply through his statement,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said education was very important for the minority Muslims.

Parents and religious leaders must counsel their wards regarding the hijab as they are more likely to listen to them than anybody else. The Congress gives the utmost respect to the Constitution and its contents, he said.

For us, whatever is enshrined in the Constitution is like the Bible, the BhagavadGita and the Quran.

The High Court of Karnataka has already given its final verdict but some are not accepting it.

Only because there is a provision to question the HC verdict in the Supreme Court, none must say the final judgement of the HC is wrong, he said.
