Residents of Kasturinagar are very happy with the police response during the Janaspandana programme held at Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station on Saturday.
The residents have been facing multiple problems and are desperate to find solutions to these problems. They attended the Janaspandana programme and narrated their woes to the police officers.
Generally, residents consider having educational institutions in their respective areas as an added value but the residents of Kasturinagar are repenting to have educational institutions in their area.
“Mischievous and wayward students have become a nuisance for us, especially senior citizens. They form into two groups and quarrel with each other. There is no one to control or discipline them. We have requested police to depute two to three police constables at each of the educational institutions,” said Raghu Shetty, treasurer, Kasturinagar Welfare Association.
The residents expect the police to fix all these problems as early as possible. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Circle Inspector, Traffic Inspector and others.
The residents also brought to notice the nuisance created near a wine store on 2nd Main and they were assured that two police constables will be assigned apart from advising the wine store owner to prevent such activities.
The residents have also appealed to the police to end the menace of wheeling in the locality. “We have noticed outsiders indulging wheeling in our area. The police have advised us to inform them whenever we notice people indulging in wheeling,” Shetty said.
They complained about heavy vehicles parked on 4th Main Road and other roads in the area causing traffic problems. “We are very happy that the Traffic Police Inspector has assured us to look into the matter,’’ said N Ramesh, secretary, Kasturinagar Welfare Association.
The other alleged nuisance is the harassment of pedestrians by transgenders on the service road. “We are not able to walk on the road due to the nuisance caused by transgenders. The police officers have assured us to attend to the problem,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police has assured the residents to take measures for installing CCTV cameras at different locations of Kasturinagar.
The other demand of the residents is to have a separate police station for Kasturinagar and adjacent areas. “As of now there are more than five lakh population in Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station jurisdiction. It has become tough for the police to keep a vigil on Kasturi Nagar. It will be good if the Home Ministry sanctions a police station for Kasturinagar. The police officers have agreed with our proposal during the meeting,’’ said Basheer Jamadar, joint secretary, Kasturinagar Welfare Association.
