He robbed houses for family trips!

Govindrajnagar police have arrested an accused for allegedly breaking into houses and stealing valuables so that he could take his wife for outings and expensive trips.

The accused was identified by the police as Imran Pasha, 26, a resident of Krishnarajapuram in Bengaluru. According to the police, the accused is a notorious burglar, involved in 11 house break-in (HBT) cases reported in various police stations across the city.

According to the police, the accused used to target locked houses and would steal valuables by breaking the lock using a rod and other tools. Police have recovered valuables worth Rs 8.6 lakh, including 147 gram gold and 1.5 kg silver ornaments, from the accused.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, West, Dr Sanjeev M Patil said that a probe was launched to nab the accused following a HBT case registered at Govindarajnagar police station during January. “Preliminary investigations show that the accused was involved in six such cases. But later it was revealed that he was involved in more cases,” he said.

According to the sources, the accused had been working as a scrap dealer, but his main source of income had been the thefts he committed. It was revealed that previously the accused had stolen valuables from a house in order to take his wife and two children on a trip to Kashmir. Police said the accused was aware that he might be caught one or the other day.

“The accused had made a secret exit inside his house and had kept it covered using scrap items,” a police officer said. “He had intended to use it if the police came knocking on his door. Currently the accused is being interrogated,” the officer added.

“With his arrest, the police were successful in solving six HBT cases registered at Mahadevapura, Ashok Nagar, KR Puram and Marathahalli police station,” DCP Dr Sanjeev Patil said.
