No seat under govt quota vacant: Minister Dr Sudhakar

Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said no seat is vacant under the government quota in medical colleges in the state while private management and NRI quota seats are filled as per guidelines of the Supreme Court.

Replying in the state Assembly on Monday, he said t h e r e are 67 government and private medical colleges in the State in which over 10,000 seats are available. The seats which are available in the government quota are getting filled up from time to time. However, in the private management and NRI quota, 648 seats remained vacant in 2017; 466 in 2018; 527 in 2019 and 697 in 2020. The mop-up round is going on in the current academic year. A list of eligible students are sent to colleges by following the 1:10 ratio seniority list to fill up seats under private managements and the NRI quota as per directions of the apex court, he added.
