NT Correspondent
Holenarasipur MLA and former minister, H.D. Revanna disclosed on Monday that the Income Tax department has served a notice on his mother, Chennamma Deve Gowda, wife of former Prime Minister H D.Deve Gowda seeking a clarification regarding the sources of income from agriculture.
He told reporters here on Monday that the family used to grow potatos on the land owned by them and now they have switched over to paddy. All details on the earnings from agriculture have been furnished while filing the IT returns every year.
Revanna alleged that the IT department had launched a witchhunt against the Deve Gowda family and it has been happening for many years but has not been successful. No one can do anything to their family as they abide by the law of the land. The family is ready to face anything and will extend full cooperation to the IT department, he added.
Meanwhile, former CM and JD(S) Leader H.D.Kumaraswamy said he was not aware of the notice being served on his mother by the IT department. “ Our family business is like an open book,” he remarked.
“ I need not bother about the notice being served on my mother and there is no need to get scared too. My father never gave any importance to money in his six decades of political life.’’
