The state government is planning to acquire 22,000 acres of land to attract investors to Karnataka. In fact, the state has always been investor friendly, said Backward Classes Minister and Ruling Party leader in the State Legislative Council Kota Srinivasa Poojary.

Replying to Prakash Rathod on behalf of Large & Medium Scale Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani in the Council on Tuesday, he said the state expects an investment of Rs 19,564.53 crore during the current year and creation of 8792 jobs. Under the Single Window Scheme, 561 new projects had been given approval which are expected to bring in an investment of Rs 42,714 crore and create 1,27,203 jobs.

Rathod claimed that neighbouring Tamil Nadu was offering more incentives for investors than Karnataka. Besides, there was inordinate delay by the Single Window agency in the clearance of projects. So investments were going to Tamil Nadu, he claimed.

Intervening, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J.C.Madhuswamy said in Karnataka, industries can run their units without any permits for the first three years and permission can be obtained after three years of production or on the completion of three years after starting the unit. Except permission from the Pollution Control Board, no permission is required from any other department to start an industry.
