4 nationallevel swimmers from Delhi arrested for gang-raping nurse

Police have arrested four accused in connection with the sexual assault of a young woman from West Bengal.

Police identified the accused as Rajath, Shivaran, Dev Saraoi and Yogesh Kumar, all from New Delhi.

It is said that they are nationallevel swimmers. The incident came to light when the victim, a private company employee, lodged a complaint with Sanjayanagar police in this regard on March 24.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Vinayak Patil stated that the complaint was lodged last week regarding the incident. “The woman got introduced to one of the accused on a dating app and developed friendship. She had gone to his house for dinner where the incident took place,” he said.

Following the complaint, the accused were arrested and remanded in judicial custody. According to sources, the four had come to Bengaluru for swimming training.

Following the complaint, police arrested one of the accused near Kempegowda International Airport, who was trying to flee from the city.

Another was detained near Basavanagudi and the other two were caught from Chickpet. A case has been registered under Section 376D of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation on the case is on, police said.
