HDK: Padayatra if CM fails to restore peace

NT Correspondent

Former CM and JD(S) Leader H D.Kumaraswamy said he would go on a statewide padayatra in case the BJP government fails to restore peace, social harmony and tolerance in Karnataka within a month with social unrest all around.

Speaking at a function organised by JP Vichara Vedike here on Thursday, Kumaraswamy said Karnataka which was once known for peace, tolerance and amity, has turned into a breeding ground for violence, communal hatred and intolerance. This has made him set a one-month deadline for the government to restore peace and tranquility “If it doesn’t happen, I will tour the length and breadth of the state and create awareness among the masses”.

Children would have to be saved from the vicious atmosphere which now prevails. Party workers will meet people from all sections of society during the padayatra and educate them about the ‘evil designs’ of the two national parties to divide people on lines of caste, community and religion, he added.
