No wedding cards, MLA sends out the invite through media!

Basavanabagewadi MLA also plans mass marriage

Vijayapura: Politicians and VIPs spend a good deal of money in printing wedding cards for the marriage of their children, but Congress MLA of Basavanabagewadi, Shivanand Patil chose a different mode to invite guests. Instead of printing wedding cards to invite people for the marriage of his daughter, Samyukta Patil, he invited them through the media and requested people to be part of the event.

“Because of Covid restrictions, I am not inviting people personally. Instead, I am inviting every person of my constituency, leaders of various political parties and my well-wishers through the media“, he said.

Some people have complained that he had not invited them personally with an invitation card. “ I appeal to all such people not to feel offended and please attend the wedding on November 29, evening near Begum Talab area”, he said.

He also informed that he had decided to arrange a mega mass marriage programme at the same place possibly in December. “ Many people could not get the marriage of their children done because of financial constraints caused by the Covid pandemic. I want to help such people and so have decided to hold a mass marriage. The wedding is open to people of all castes and religions. Any interested person can apply for it. Though I want to get the marriage of at least 101 couples performed, more people can register”, he said.

Patil also said that the event will be unique but refused to divulge more details.
