Asserting that everyone was equal before the state government, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said all necessary steps will be taken to ensure peace in society by not allowing any indi- vidual or organisation to disturb it.
“I will function without showing any favour to any- one, I will work without be- ing partial”, he said while talking to reporters at his residence here on Tuesday.
On former CM and JD(S) leader H.D. Kuma- raswamy’s threat to hold a protest on April 16 against the BJP government’s fail- ure to ensure peace and harmony, Bommai said everyone has the right to protest adding he did not want to reply to baseless statements. He said he was confident of provid- ing good governance in the remaining one year of his tenure.
Asked about the ‘Azaan’ controversy, the CM said the Supreme Court has already issued an order on ‘Azaan’ and there was an- other order on the non-im- plementation of rules. The court order clearly speaks of the decibel levels and also about the purchase of decibel meters in districts. The implementation of this rule must be done af- ter taking everyone into confidence and cannot be forced on any community, he said. The conciliatory talks have been held at the field level with various or- ganisations.
This process would continue in the coming days, he added. Bommai also asserted that so far, no discussion has been held on the Cabinet reshuffle or expansion and it is expected to hap- pen during the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J.P. Nadda. The CM termed Andhra Pradesh IT/BT Minister K.T. Ramarao’s tweet on bad roads in Ben- galuru as ‘childish’ and said most of the unicorns and startups are located in Bengaluru.
