Cops to examine authenticity of Al-Qaeda video: Bommai
NT Corespondent
Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai said DG&IGP Praveen Sood has been asked to examine the authenticity of a video that has surfaced in which Al-Qaeda Chief Ayman Al-Zawahiri has praised a Mandya girl as ‘Our Mujahid sister’ in connection with the recent hijab-saffron shawl row when the girl was involved in a faceoff with some students wearing saffron shawls.
Talking to reporters here on Thursday, he said this is not surprising as it is quite natural for the banned terrorist outfit chief to create controversy by speaking against the law of the land and create unrest in society. The state top cop has been asked to check the authenticity of the video and take necessary action, he said.
Bommai also wondered why Leader of Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah gets perturbed when he hears the name Al-Qaeda. The Congress leader’s allegation that the RSS is behind this video has no ‘logic’ or ‘basis’. What’s the problem if Al-Qaeda is blamed for the video, he wondered.
On the impending Cabinet reshuffle, the CM said he had an initial discussion with BJP National President J.P.Nadda during his two-day visit to Delhi. Nadda has promised to have a detailed discussion on this during the two-day BJP State Executive Committee meeting to be held on April 16 & 17. During that meeting, a clear picture will emerge. Ultimately, it is the high command which will decide on the rejig, he added.
