Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) President D.K. Shivakumar has urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to dismiss Home Minister Araga Jnanendra for trying to create unrest in society by instigating castes and communities against each other. “I urge the Bengaluru City commissioner to take up a suo motu case against the home minister for his callous statement on a serious issue. I doubt whether Araga Jnanendra has common sense. It is not known whether he talks as home minister or on behalf of the government or he is making comments on behalf of the BJP. He has been making careless statements to create unrest in society and mislead people. A case must be booked against him”.
Shivakumar said just like the government filed cases against those who issued statements against CAA and on other issues, a case must be booked against the home minister for trying to disturb peace and tranquility in society. “I strongly condemn the murder of a JJ Nagar youth in a road rage incident and the accused must be punished. There is no question of shielding anyone. But before the police can investigate, the home minister gave a statement that the youth had been done to death for not speaking in Urdu. Later he retracted his statement.
Araga is known for making such statements and for getting into trouble. I congratulate Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant for giving a correct statement ok the JJ Nagar incident without succumbing to pressure”, the Congress leader said.
He said the Congress has planned a state-level protest on April 11 at Freedom Park in the city to protest against price rise. Since the high court has banned any protest in the city, the party’s legal unit has been asked to look into it. The district units has been asked to protest on any one day between April 7 and 9 in the districts.
On Chamarajpet MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan being unhappy, Shivakumar quipped, “I am not aware of it...please share information if you have it (on Zameer).
