
Four tigers on prowl in south Kodagu: Katti

Forest Minister Umesh Katti sent out a warning revealing that four tigers are camping in the villages of South Kodagu.
Speaking to reporters after obtaining details of man-animal conflict in the district on Friday and meeting the family members of an estate worker who was mauled by a tiger recently, he said an operation is on to nab the killer tiger. The department is aware of the tiger and elephant menace especially in south Kodagu. There is information that four tigers are camping in villages of South Kodagu and the identification of the particular tiger that killed the estate worker is on, he said.
Katti also said several schemes have been implemented to check the movement of wild jumbos such as solar fencing and the installation of railway sleeper fencing. With this it would be possible to find a permanent solution to the jumbo menace in the district. The government is open to any suggestion from people on how to prevent the tiger menace, he added.
