Ramanavami celebrated with religious fervour
Ramanavami was celebrated across the city on Sunday with religious fervour. Several counters were set up in various parts of the city to distribute preparations such as Paanaka (jaggery lemonade with fruits), buttermilk and Kosambari (a dish made of soaked lentils and cucumber).
In many areas, the local units of political parties took the initiative to distribute food and buttermilk. Many citizens’ groups also took up such tasks. One such team was a group of tempo drivers in Girinagar who carried out the distribution at their tempo stand.
Sree Ramaseva Mandali holds an annual music festival at Fort High School ground in Chamarajpet.
This year, to commemorate 75 years of Independence, it organized a special musical ensemble for Ramanavami on Sunday. The ensemble of 75 musicians was led by noted Carnatic violinist Vid Mysore Manjunath.
