Monsoon preparedness: BBMP has SOS meeting
By NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: It rained on Wednesday in various places of the city within the BBMP limits and the weather forecast department has said that more rains are likely in the next three days. In this regard, problems such as tree fall or water blockage on roads/ junctions must be solved as soon as a complaint is raised from anywhere in the city. Failing to comply will lead to action against officials concerned, BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta strictly warned the staff.
Addressing an emergency virtual meeting held due to the sudden and welcome rainfall in the city, Gaurav Gupta said, “No citizen should face problems during rains. BBMP teams should immediately reach places where trees/ branches have fallen or wherever rainwater gets stagnated. They should immediately resolve the issue and facilitate smooth traffic flow.”
According to reports, all zonal control rooms shall have necessary equipment/ machines along with the necessary personnel. Zonewise senior officials should conduct meetings to address rain-related issues.
“In case of heavy rains in the city, use Revenue, Health, Solid waste management officials and Marshals too, to solve the problem. Identify areas where water is blocked and take steps to avoid such blockage in future. BBMP teams should visit the spot immediately after receiving complaints at control rooms, to solve the problems,” he said.
They must ensure that there water flows smoothly through all Rajakaluves (major storm-water drains) in the city. There should be no problem due to ‘kaccha’ Rajakaluves. Leave no room for bad incidents. Take precautionary measures against all eventualities, he instructed.
