In bid to escape, murder accused jumps from fifth floor of civil court

Bengaluru: A person was severely injured after he allegedly jumped off the fifth floor of the City Civil Court on Wednesday, police said.

Jitin was arrested in connection with his alleged involvement in a murder case registered at Halasuru Gate Police Station during 2020.

The police said the accused was being produced in Courtroom Number CCH-51 by the investigation officer and several constables on Wednesday.

The accused freed himself with a jerk from the custody of constables who were holding his arm. When the accompanying constables tried to nab him, the accused allegedly jumped from the fifth floor of the court, police said.

The grievously injured accused was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment. The jurisdictional police reached the spot to inspect the case. Further investigation will follow.
