IIT ian’s body found near Yelahanka railway station

Bengaluru: The body of a 65-year-old IITian was found on the railway tracks near the Yelahanka railway station on Tuesday morning. The victim is the father of wellknown Telugu playback singer, Harini. The police have found blades and other sharp objects near the body. It’s not clear if the victim has committed suicide as there is a deep cut in his jugular vein or was he murdered.
Fingerprints on the blades are of the victim. The police are checking if the victim used the blades to cut his vein or if someone else forced him to cut himself. Deceased’s family arrived from Hyderabad on Wednesday and have collected his body for last rites. The police are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of the death.
The deceased has been identified as AK Rao, who has a PhD from IIT, Bombay. He has postgraduate qualifications in Industrial Engineering and Management from Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok. He is a resident of Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. He was staying with some friends in Bengaluru. Rao is said to be the victim of a cheating case registered in the Suddagunttepalya police. He is also said to be an investor, advisor and mentor to early stage start-ups. Rao was also the executive director of a business school in Hyderabad. D R Sirigowri, Superintendent of Police, Railways told News Trail that Rao’s family members have suspected foul play in his death. “We are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of the death. The body was found on the railway tracks near Yelahanka railway station,” the IPS officer added.
The railway police who are also probing the suicide angle suspect that the death could be in connection with the cheating case in which he was the victim. They are also probing if Rao had any issues with his family members, friends or relatives. The police are scanning the CCTV footage to check how Rao came near the tracks or was there anyone else with him.
