Bengaluru: A BBMP official, who was raided by the ACB on Wednesday, has come before the media and ‘thanked’ all those responsible for the raid. M Mayanna, First Division Clerk, Major Roads and Infrastructure, BBMP, has clarified that he had nothing to hide and all his assets are legal and most of them are his ancestral property. He alleged that the raids are plotted as he is contesting the Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) elections.
He claimed that he received death threats and said that he has filed a police complaint in this regard. “I have become the victim of a conspiracy. My friend Uma Devi who supported me during the KSP elections has been getting messages since 2018 that they will ensure ACB raids my house. Those responsible for these raids are sending similar messages to other officials about them being next ACB targets. I have got death threats through WhatsApp messages. I have filed complaints in Ulsoor, Hanumanthanagar, and Chamarajpet police stations. The matter has also been brought to the notice of CCB,” Mayanna told reporters.
Calling himself as a “soft target”, he added such raids have been conducted since the last ten years and claimed, “The documents taken by ACB are ancestral property. I make a living by rent. Audits have been done to the properties I own. I thank all the conspirators," he said.
