Hubballi incident looks organised: CM

By NT Correspondent

Vijayanagar: Underlining that the state government will not tolerate any organisation taking the law into their hands, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said those who try to disturb peace and harmony in society will be dealt with an iron hand.

Violence broke out in the old Hubballi area on Sunday after the alleged posting of objectionable content in social media by a person following which hundreds of people gathered in front of a police station demanding action against the youth. The cops had already arrested him but the mob still resorted to stone throwing and damaged public property including police vehicles, the CM said adding that they also broke the glass panes of a private hospital and of a number of shops in the area.

The instigation by some organisations is the root cause for the incident, said the CM adding that nothing would have happened had they considered this as a law and order issue instead of giving a different angle to it.

“This is nothing but organised crime which will be dealt with accordingly. No one must try to give political colour to it. The local police have been asked to take necessary action and arrest the miscreants who were responsible for the unprovoked stone throwing.”
