BIAL to run electric buses between terminals

Bengaluru: Bangalore International Airport Limited is seeking a partner to establish its electric bus shuttle operations between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the airport. BIAL plans to use electric buses to transport passengers across the campus.

“The deployment of the EV shuttle service at terminal transfers reiterates our commitment to a green future and catering to the ever-increasing air transportation needs,” said Jayaraj Shanmugam, Chief Operating Officer, BIAL.

The airport has undertaken various steps to deploy onsite renewable energy generation systems and offsite renewable power procurement. Onsite solar installations and Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) from solar and wind energy suppliers helped Bengaluru Airport achieve energy-neutral status in December 2020.
