Man duped over sale of used bike
Bengaluru: A 26-year-old resident of Srinivas Nagar fell prey to an online fraudster and lost Rs 22,000 trying to purchase a used bike.
In a complaint, the victim claimed to have seen an ad of a used bike priced at Rs 25,000. As the bike in the photo seemed clean, he decided to purchase it.
The victim then called the owner and negotiated the price, fixing it for Rs 20,000. He further asked the owner if he could visit him and check the condition of the bike.
The owner claimed to be an Army officer and asked him to transfer Rs 2,200 so that he can arrange to deliver the bike to the victim’ house.
After transferring Rs 2,200, the victim again received a call from the owner who said that the transport officials are asking for GST and requested the victim to pay the remaining amount.
Soon after the victim paid him Rs 20000, the owner’s phone number was switched off. A complaint has been filed in the CEN department.
