6.84 lakh students enroll to write 2nd PU final exams from April 22

Bengaluru: As many as 6,84,255 students have enrolled for the second year final examination for the year 2021-22 which will begin from April 22.

Disclosing this at a news conference here on Tuesday, Primary and Secondary Education Minister B.C.Nagesh said the examinations would be held in over 1,000 colleges across the State. Of the total 6,84,255 students, 600519 are freshers, 61,808 are repeaters and 21,928 are privately registered. As many as 3,46,936 boys and 3,37,319 girls are appearing for the examination this time.

Of the total 6.84 lakh students, 2,28,167 are from the arts stream, 2,45,519 from the commerce stream and 2,10,569 from the science stream. The examination will be held at 1076 examination centres. While Bengaluru South has the maximum of 83 examination centres, the lowest number of centres are in Ramanagaram which has just 13.

Exam related material including question papers are kept in the treasury of offices of the deputy commissioners in all districts. The distribution and transportation of exam related items would take place from the treasury under the strict vigil of officers. The treasuries would be under CCTV coverage and would also be protected by the police. The chief superintendents at the exam centres are allowed to keep their mobile phones without using cameras. However, other examination staff and students have been barred from carrying mobile phones inside exam centres.

Nagesh said special vigilance cells have been constituted across the state to check any malpractice. There will be 2152 taluk level vigilance committees, and 64 district level committees. Already, the respective district officials have announced the area in a 200 meters radius of the exam centres as a restricted area. Adequate police force has been deployed to maintain law and order near exam centres. The KSRTC will allow free travel in buses from the residence of students till the exam centres and students must produce the hall ticket to avail this concession.
