Cases booked against BBMP vehicles for traffic violations

Bengaluru: Two days after yet another garbage truck was involved in an accident that claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to ensure that all garbage vehicles in its fleet and those belonging to contractors are certified by the City Transport Department.

Amid this, Bengaluru Traffic police on Wednesday issued a stern warning to BBMP garbage truck drivers to follow traffic rules and avoid speeding.

As many as 252 vehicles were inspected at the Bengaluru West division, of which 82 vehicles attached to the BBMP were found to have violated traffic rules including jumping signals, lack of proper number plate, FC and insurance. Cases have been booked against such vehicles, a traffic official said.
