Bengaluru: Instructions have been issued to all police stations to resolve the Azaan row(over use of loudspeakers in mosques) by holding peace committee meetings in a cordial atmosphere, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said. “Everyone must respect and follow the law of the land”, he told reporters in Kalaburagi on Friday.
Bommai said there was a court order on Azaan and accordingly a circular has been sent to the Home Department. The order specifies the decibel level during the morning, afternoon and evening hours with the DG& IGP issuing a circular in this regard.
Replying to a question, the CM said there is more unity in the BJP now than before and all contentious issues have been resolved through talks. A lot of attention is being paid to the development of the Kalyana Karnataka region which would be achieved by taking everyone into confidence, he said.
The CM refused to comment on former Union minister Basangouda Patil Yatnal’s strong opposition to the naming of the underconstruction Shivamogga airport after former CM and prominent Lingayat leader B.S.Yediyurappa.
