Bengaluru: Heartbeats of minister aspirants have started beating fast after learning that Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai is visiting New Delhi on April 29 in connection with a meeting of all chief ministers and chief justices of all high courts in the State capital.

Last time, despite being in Delhi for almost three days the CM was not able to meet the BJP National President JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the Cabinet rejig in Karnataka, which will go to polls in the next 12 months. But Nadda had a detailed discussion with the CM during the Executive Committee Meeting held in Hosapete in Vijayanagar district last week and had the first round of talks.

The national president had asked Bommai to come to Delhi when a special meeting will be held to discuss only the Cabinet rejig. The high command had given permission only for a mini Cabinet reshuffle by dropping five seniors and inducting fresh faces. Besides, the reshuffling of portfolios of a few ministers whose performance was found to be below the average mark.

Sources privy to the CM told News Trail that since he would be in Delhi for two days, Amit Shah would be addressing the conclave. Taking advantage of this, Bommai would meet Shah and Nadda to get their nod for the Cabinet rejig. The high command is of the opinion that it is not correct to keep MLAs waiting for a long time as everyone one counts at the time of government formation. Besides, senior MLAs wish to work as ministers and several of them have not experienced it. So, the party would deem it its duty to fulfil the dreams of such senior lawmakers.

Sources said that the CM will carry a list of ministers to be dropped and those to be inducted in order to get the seal of approval from the high command. Existing chairmen of various boards and corporations will also be asked to resign to have a new team along with the Cabinet rejig.
