Situation to impose fine for not wearing mask not come: Minister

Bengaluru: The situation of imposing a fine for not wearing a mask has not come, but people must compulsorily take the second and third (booster) doses of vaccination, said Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday he said the Government of India has issued certain guidelines for wearing masks and following Covid appropriate behaviour indoors due to a spurt in Corona positive cases in some states of the country. But luckily, the situation of slapping fine on people for not wearing a mask has not come.
“Without showing laxity, people must follow the CAB and take the second and third doses of the vaccination at the earliest. Citizens must not be careless just because the number of Corona positive cases in India is less when compared to other countries,” he said.
Dr Sudhakar said vaccination, wearing a mask in public places and crowds were the panacea to escape from the fourth wave and stay safe. “Presently, children above 12 years of age are being vaccinated. The Government of India is making necessary arrangements for vaccinating children in the age group of five and 11 years too. Once that is done, the vaccination process will be kickstarted,” he added.
