Fans remember Rajkumar

Bengaluru: Thousands of fans gathered in Kanteerava Studio on Sunday to celebrate Dr Rajkumar’s 94th birth anniversary. Raja Ratha Yatra has been organised by the fans from his birthplace Gajanuru in Erode district in Tamil Nadu to his memorial at the Kanteerava Studio.

Rajkumar’s family paid floral tributes to the memorial by conducting pooja. Raghavendra Rajkumar conducted the pooja as Shiva Rajkumar is not in town. Later, fans were allowed to visit Dr Rajkumar’s memorial.

Remembering his father, Raghavendra Rajkumar said, “Everybody has to leave one day. What we have to remember is the values that he has left behind,” he said.

Many Sandalwood stars, including Prem, Dhruva Sarja, and politicians were seen paying tributes to the memorial.

Baragooru Ramachandrappa, a writer and director, said, “If Rajkumar was just an actor people might not have showered him with so much love.”

BJP State president Nalin Kumar Kateel pointed out that Rajkumar’s contribution to Karnataka in culture, tradition and language is immense. He earned Karnataka a place of pride at the global level through his cinemas, he added.
