Live wire on pavement: Youth electrocuted
Bengaluru: In a yet another incident of civic apathy, a 22-year-old youth died after he was electrocuted by a live wire in Sanjay Nagar police station limits on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Kishore, a labourer and resident of Geddalahalli in the city.
Police have now filed a case following negligence by telecom company Airtel as well as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Lt. The incident took place around 7 pm when Kishore was walking on the pavement near a park with his brother.
He saw a wire hanging from a tree and tried to pull it, unaware that it was live wire. He got electrocuted and died on the spot. On getting an alert, the police rushed to the spot and found Kishore’s body lying on the pavement, holding on to the wire.
The officers then alerted the power department officials to cut the power supply in the area for some time. Later it was found that the wire was set up by telecom company Airtel after finishing some work around the area. The loose end of the wire has now been sealed up with a tape and wound in a loose coil to a nearby tree.
