Truck driver arrested for cheating owner
By NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: A truck owner was allegedly cheated of Rs 8.4 lakh by his driver, who is now been arrested by Basavanagudi police station. Azgar Baig had sent a truck load of ingredients used in the manufacturing of chocolates to Thootukudi district in Tamil Nadu. The driver of the truck, identified as Adil Khan, delivered the load and received a payment of Rs 8.4 lakh from the factory. However, Khan did not return to Bengaluru.
Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the accused had called Baig and informed about a minor accident that took place near Madurai Bypass. Adding to the story Khan had claimed that he too suffered injuries and the cash which had been kept in the truck, is missing.
Suspecting his claim, Baig filed a complaint against him. “During the interrogation, the accused confessed to have hidden the money somewhere and promised to return it in two days. But he soon started threatening the victim,” police said. The accused was again arrested by the police on Monday night and a case has been filed against him. Further investigation is underway.
