Let HC judge oversee PSI scam: Reddy

By NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Ramalinga Reddy demanded that the state government conduct the probe into the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam under the supervision of a High Court judge.

He added that a CID team was more likely to deliver justice if a High Court judge oversaw the investigation.

“Developments clearly point out that the government is trying to cover up the investigation and save the accused. I would request the government to form a CID investigation team under the supervision of a high court judge, only then will the truth emerge,” Reddy said.

The Congress veteran listed a variety of reasons as to why the case merited a sitting judge’s supervision. “Home Minister Araga Jnanendra has announced that the PSI recruitment list will be cancelled, and a new exam will be held to ensure justice to honest candidates. PSI recruitment is one of the biggest corruption scams in Karnataka, and we are witnessing new twists and turns in the scam every day. The recruitment list had to be canceled as the scam gained more prominence. It is foolish for the Home Minister to think that he can divert attention by announcing a new exam. The home minister is tight-lipped when it comes to talking about the accused,” he said.

He added that there were conflicts of interest that hindered a fair investigation. “The recruitment list was prepared by the Police. The accused were from the police. Police are the ones who are investigating the scam. The primary accused, Divya Hagargi, is a member of the ruling BJP,’’ he said.
