Bengaluru: Divya Hagaragi, a prime accused in the alleged multicrore PSI recruitment scam, was finally arrested at a lodge in Pune in Maharashtra along with four others on Friday.

Acting on available information, CID Superintendent of Police Raghavendra Hegde and his team arrested them and brought them to Kalaburagi for interrogation. The state government and the home department were under fire as Divya had been missing for more than two weeks ever since the scam was exposed. Congress leaders has accused the BJP government of delaying her arrest. Divya, along with another teacher Archana and three others were arrested by the cops.

It was a roller-coaster rise for CID sleuths as Divya allegedly kept changing her location. Although, six police teams were constituted to trace her location there was no clue of her.

The cops were aware of the fact that someone was giving her shelter and they got into the job of finding that ‘person’. it was at this time that they stumbled on the kingpin of the illegal sand mining scam, Suresh Kategaon.

According to sources, the CID sleuths kept an eye on all vehicles going towards Maharashtra from Karnataka at toll gates and checked the CCTV footage at the toll gates. Then they came to know that Divya and her team has gone to Pune. But the problem was that they were not staying at one place and were always on the move. This proved to be a big headache for the police.

Divya had taken her children with her, and also other teachers, Archana and Sunitha. The mobile tower location of Suresh showed Pune and this established the fact that they were staying in the Maharashtra city.

The cops swooped on them while they were having dinner at a hotel in Pune. It is said that she had changed over 20 sim cards to mislead the cops. She was disposing the sim card after every usage.

The arrested persons will be brought to Kalburagi where they would be taken into custody after producing them before the local court.
