Bengaluru: A 30-year-old father and his three-yearold son had a providential escape when his electric scooter caught fire at 8 am on Saturday at Upkar Layout near Zuzuvadi on the outskirts of Hosur in Tamil Nadu.

“During the ride with my son on Saturday morning, I noticed smoke billowing from the battery. Soon, I took my son and jumped out of it. My son was shocked to see the scooter in flames,’’ said Satheesh M who works at CS Aerothm at Bommasandra Industrial Area on Hosur Main Road in Bengaluru.

He said the e-scooter, made by Okinawa, was bought for Rs 90,000 from a showroom in Hosur a year ago. “I wanted to lodge a police complaint but the staff from the showroom approached me to ask whether I wanted a new e-scooter or cash. I am yet to decide on it,’’ he said.

SIPCOT Police Inspector Balakrishna said no complaint has been registered at the station.
