Mysuru: Congress General Secretary in charge of Karnataka affairs, Randeep Singh Surjewala seems to have made up his mind not to return to Delhi till he installs a Congress government in Karnataka in 2023.

A 30-member team led by Surjewala has decided to stay back in the state to work out strategies to enable the party take over the reins from the BJP after the Assembly elections. KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar has been entrusted the task of finding a suitable house for him in and around Queen’s Road in Bengaluru(where the KPCC office is located) so that he is available to party workers 24 X 7. Already, four to five flats have been identified for him.

One of the Working Presidents of KPCC told News Trail that a senior political strategist with a strong team of 100 plus members has opened an office in Bengaluru to decide the strategies to be adopted to win the Assembly election. As for the 30-member team, it will tour all 224 Assembly constituencies to study the prospects of the party in the coming polls.

The leader said Surjewala will stay in Karnataka till April-May, 2023 or the completion of the Assembly election. He plans to stay here for 20 days and the remaining 10 days of each month in Delhi and other cities. He will also be getting the services of two AICC secretaries from Delhi as well as observers for all 28 Lok Sabha constituencies. The observer will stay in the Lok Sabha constituency, keep a watch on political developments and strategies adopted by opposition parties besides the mood of the electorate and report back to Surjewala who in turn will keep the high command abreast of the happenings.

Of the total 40 KPCC vice-presidents, 28 would be made in charge of each Lok Sabha constituency. As many as eight Assembly constituencies come under each LS constituency. The others would be put in charge of frontal organisations.

Each general secretary would be given charge of two Assembly constituencies. Recently, the Congress had appointed 109 general secretaries for Karnataka. A total revamp of the frontal organisations is also on the anvil to make them stronger and vibrant, said sources.
