Woman held for killing husband

Bengaluru: The city police investigating the murder of Shankar Reddy, a private firm employee, have now arrested his wife as the main accused.
After conducting sport mahazar, the police interrogated Dilli Rani, 27, who confessed to have killed her husband so that she could be with her paramour.
A police officer told News Trail that Dilli Rani kept changing her statements which aroused suspicion. “It was revealed that the couple had differences in their marital life. They have two children aged six and four,” police said.
Shankar Reddy died after his throat was slit around 12:40 am on Friday while he was asleep at his house. The police said after the incident one of their children ran to the house owner and informed that his parents are hurt. The house owner then alerted the jurisdictional police.
In a statement to the police, Dilli Rani had claimed that an unidentified assailant entered the house and attacked her during which she fell unconscious. “When I regained consciousness, I found my husband dead with his throat slit,” she said.
Analysing the crime scene, Inspector K. Suresh found that there was no forced entry into the house and all valuables were intact. The police further verified Dilli Rani’s mobile phone and found that she was having an extra marital affair with a man from her native.
She had called her lover before killing her husband to inform that she would soon be with him.
The police have recovered the knife used in the crime and are further investigating the case. Yeshwanthpur police have formed a special team to nab Dilli Rani’s lover to ascertain his role in the plot.
