Learning a lifelong process, says AICTE chairman at JSS varsity
Dr Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All Indian Council for Technical Education, New Delhi said learning never ends irrespective of whether one goes for higher qualifications or opts for a job. Learning is and has to be a lifelong process, he said.
Delivering the fourth convocation address at JSS Science and Technology University in Mysuru on Monday, Dr Sahasrabudhe said the acquisition of knowledge plays a crucial role in overall progress in one’s life. It is learnt that the CEP cell has been established for providing lifelong learning and for capacity building. Skills that were most advanced a decade ago, may not enjoy the same status now, or have become obsolete as new technologies came into existence and took the lead. Continuous learning gains relevance in this backdrop for it gives one an upper hand in a highly competitive and fast changing world.
Dr Sahasrabudhe also said it is imminent for Indian academia to play a major role in nurturing and providing the talent pool required to enable the country to grow, compete and succeed in all spheres. The institutions themselves would have to take the lead in addressing the need for much required training and skill development for the new generation. There are wonderful opportunities available to each one to make use of the knowledge and skills they have acquired and leave a footprint in this beautiful country as a pathbreaker, he said.
He expressed the hope that the institution of excellence would reach greater heights in imparting high quality education for nurturing a knowledgeable and skilled youth force that would take the nation to the status of a global leader in all aspects.
