Bengaluru: In a significant development which pointed to the possibility of a change of guard in the state, the crucial meeting of the all powerful BJP core committee which was supposed to be held on Tuesday to discuss cabinet rejig and a probable change of guard, was postponed abruptly. Union Home Minister Amit Shah who was in the city, was supposed to be at the meeting.
Till last night, Shah was expected to attend the meeting at a high-end hotel here after lunch at CM Bommai’s official residence. But the ‘Chanakya’ of the BJP as Amit Shah is popularly known, reportedly cancelled the meeting hinting at major changes in the State.
A senior BJP leader on the condition of anonymity told News Trail that Shah would have discussed the cabinet reshuffle or expansion if no change of leadership was on the cards. With Shah remaining silent on the issue, it is obvious that a new leader would be installed who would then pick his own team to face the 2023 poll battle, he said adding, “Some kind of serious discussion is going on at the national level, something is cooking in Delhi”.
According to the leader the purpose of Delhi leaders sending three teams of leaders across the state was to collect a feedback from people about the performance of the Bommai government. The compiled report has indicated that Bommai is not a mass leader and cannot be the BJP’s mascot in the ‘23 elections. Besides, the incumbent CM has absolutely no control over the administration.
