PSI scam: Congress protests against Minister
By NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: Congress workers protested against Higher Education CN Ashwath Narayan in Malleshwaram on Wednesday, alleging that his brother and close aides were involved in the recent Police Sub Inspector (PSI) recruitment scam.
Congress MLC B K Hariprasad, former minister Ramalinga Reddy, Kengal Shreepada Renu, Annop Iyengar and others led the protest by assembling at the Malleshwaram Sports Ground near K C General Hospital.
They raised slogans against the minister and accused him of having close connections with those involved in the PSI recruitment scam. B K Hariprasad said that the BJP was able to become the richest party in the country due to its corrupt practices.
The protest was attended by women in large numbers. Three men in police uniform held placards which read ‘we have failed SSLC, give us a police job’.
Leaders who spoke at the event said the PSI scam was a case of the fence eating the crop.
Police personnel formed chains and blocked the march that began at 11.20am before they could even reach K C General Hospital signal. Several protesters were hauled into buses and taken away from the spot.
Traffic on Margosa road was blocked for a few minutes when the police cleared the protesters. It resulted in a jam from K C General Hospital to 8th Cross.
