Man strangulates wife with her dupatta, tries to mislead cops

Bengaluru: Nelamangala rural police have detained a person on charges of allegedly killing his wife by strangulating her to death.

Police have identified the accused as Chowdesh alias Satish, 35, a resident of Chunchanakuppe near Nelamangala and a cashier by profession. He hails from Hiriyur in Chitradurga district.

The incident came to light when the accused took his ‘unconscious’ wife, Shwetha, to a private hospital claiming that she fell down due to low blood pressure. The accused also informed his in-laws and they rushed to the hospital.

A c c o r d i n g t o s o u r c e s , Shwetha’s family and the doctors at the hospital suspected foul play and alerted the jurisdictional police regarding the case.

Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Chowdesh was involved in an extra-marital affair, which Shwetha had recently discovered through some of her relatives.

She reportedly confronted her husband regarding this issue, police said.

It was revealed that a heated argument ensued between the couple which ended with the accused strangulating Shwetha with her dupatta.

Police said that the couple had just celebrated Chowdesh’s birthday and Shwetha is said to have even shared a few of their pictures on social media.

Investigation is underway and the accused is being questioned regarding the case.
