
India, Italy have shared strong cultural bond : CM

Bengaluru: I ndia and Italy share strong cultural and business ties for a long time, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai adding that the state will extend full cooperation to strengthen ties with Italy. He gave this assurance to an Italian delegation led by External Affairs Minister of italy Luigi Di Maio, which called on him on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Luigi Di Maio said Italy is: keen to have good relations with Karnataka and invited Bommai to visit Italy.
There are many tile and tyre manufacturing plants functioning for over 40 years in and around Bengaluru. As high as 99% use Italian machinery, Bommai said. Responding to the interest shown by the Italian delegation in the science sector, Bommai said, science is a part of daily life for people of Karnataka. Bengaluru is a Science City. The education and thinking process are highly scientific, he said adding that Karnataka is in the forefront in Science, Research, Technology, Startups and Unicorns, IT and BT sectors. The Maharajas of Mysore laid the foundation stone for the growth of these sectors 150 years ago. Public sector majors like HMT, BHEL, BEL created a conducive ecosystem for the growth of science and technology in Bengaluru, Bommai said.
