Man kills pregnant wife

Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old man turned himself over to the police after killing his pregnant wife in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Ramu alias Shashidhar was married to Vanitha, 25, a resident of Nandihalli in Tumakuru. Ramu is said to be the son of a retired police officer from Annapoorneshwari Layout in Dabaspet police station limits.

According to sources the couple were MBA graduates and the accused was employed at an MNC in the city. He recently lost his job and the relationship between the couple turned sour. It was also alleged that Ramu’s family started demanding dowry from Vanitha, due to which she went to her parents’ home.

The accused apologised to her parents and brought her back. After reaching home on Thursday evening, the couple got involved in an argument which turned violent and Ramu choked Vanitha to death, police said.

Learning of their daughter’s death, Vanitha’s parents reached the city and demanded the arrest of Ramu’s parents, who had absconded after the incident. Police have conducted spot inspection and sent Vanitha’s body for the medical examination. A search has been launched to arrest Ramu’s family, police said.
