Mysuru: The craze for selfies claimed the life of a married woman in Nanjangud town of Mysuru district on Saturday.

A family of three including the husband, wife and a daughter had come to Nanjangud town for the ‘darshan’ of Lord Srikanteshwara. Before entering the temple they decided to bathe in the Kapila river. As Kavitha entered the water and started taking selfies, she slipped and fell into the river. Her husband cried for help and locals jumped into the river but she died by the time they pulled her out.

She belonged to Nanjadevanapura village in Chamarajanagar district.

Their daughter is nine years old. Girish, husband of the deceased, cried inconsolably on seeing his wife washed away in the river. The body was shifted to Nanjangud Government hospital for the post-mortem. Hullahali police registered a case and are investigating it.
