19-yr-old held for killing painter

Bengaluru: A 19-yearold youth was arrested by Yelahanka New Town police for killing a wall painter in an inebriated state. Police identified the deceased as Ravi Kiran, 27, a resident of Attur layout in Yelahanka. The accused was identified as Balakrishna.
A senior police officer said that the accused, who was an autorickshaw driver, recently took up a job as a wall painter and was introduced to Ravi Kiran. As both started working together, they became friends. On the night of April 25, Balakrishna consumed alcohol while returning from work along with Ravi Kiran. Both went to a pan shop nearby where they were involved in an argument.
In the melee, an enraged Balakrishna took a concrete brick lying on the road and smashed Ravi Kiran’s head. A profusely bleeding Ravi Kiran was shifted to a local hospital where he died on Saturday, police said. Based on the complaint, the police arrested Balakrishna charging him with murder and remanded him to judicial custody.
