Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have arrested six accused for disturbing public peace due to their personal enmity, DCP, East, Dr Bheemashankar S Guled said on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Syed Asgar, Munavar, Fayazullah, Azeemuddin, Syed Sikandar and Syed Hussain. The police said all the accused are the residents of Hegde Nagar in the city.

Preliminary investigation by the police has revealed that a resident of Saraipalya and a history sheeter of Hennur police station, Mohammed Azeemuddin alias Babu, was a tenant of Fayazullah. Fayazullah recently notified Azeemuddin that he is going to sell the property. But Azeemuddin refused to vacate the house and even humiliated Fayazullah.

“In revenge for his humiliation and to throw Azeemuddin out of the house, Fayazullah along with the other co-accused hid weapons such as bottles containing petrol bombs, a desi pistol with a bullet and other lethal weapons in his house,” police said. The Hennur police officials have seized the weapons and arrested the six accused. Currently they are being interrogated, the top cop said. Further investigation is underway.

Fake news on media channels
As soon as the accused were arrested by the city police, fake news began circulating on various news channels linking the criminal case with the Suprabhata that was played at several temples across Bengaluru to “counter Azaan” on Monday.

Bheemashankar S Guled, clarified that the motive behind the incident was personal enmity. “The news linking this case with the Suprabhata campaign is totally false,” the top cop said.
