City receives light rain: Cyclone Asani yet to make landfall

Bengaluru: The city received light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday, while cyclone Asani did not make a landfall on the country’s east coast.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) data revealed that city limits had received 3.8 mm of rainfall as of 5:30 pm on Tuesday. Constant summer showers seem to have dropped the mercury in the city to a maximum temperature 24.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 20.2 degrees Celsius.
IMD also revised its estimation, disclosing that the cyclone is now expected to make landfall close to Kakinada-Vishakhapatnam coasts on Wednesday morning.
Earlier they had said that the system would make landfall on Tuesday. They added that the system had been losing intensity and gone from being a severe cyclonic storm to a cyclone and would be downgraded to a depression by Thursday.
Moreover, they continued to forecast showers for the city in the next two days. “Generally cloudy sky. Rain/ thundershowers very likely. Surface winds likely to be strong and gusty at times. Maximum and minimum temperatures very likely to be around 27 and 22 degrees Celsius respectively,” an IMD forecast said.
