CM has no trust in ministers: AAP
By NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: The Karnataka unit of the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday criticised the chief minister’s lack of trust in his ministers. The party’s State President Prithvi Reddy termed the CM’s decision to form a tenders’ investigation committee as shameful. He urged the CM to sack corrupt ministers. “AAP, contractors’ associations as well as retired officials have been talking about the widespread corruption in the State,” he said.
The committee, whose formation was announced recently, will review tenders whose value exceeds Rs 50 crore. The committee reportedly includes a retired Karnataka High Court judge and retired government officials.
Prithvi Reddy questioned why the threshold was fixed and alleged that there was scope for corruption in the tenders below Rs 50 crore.
He condemned the government’s decision to hand over the responsibility of auditing the state’s industrial areas to a foreign agency by floating a global tender.
Earlier this week, Minister for Industries Murugesh Nirani was quoted as saying that close to 2000 acres of industrial land has been encroached upon or left unused.
