‘Take permission for use of loudspeakers’

Bengaluru: With the State Government issuing guidelines regarding the use of loudspeakers as per directions of the Supreme Court, those who are using it must take permission from the authorities concerned within 15 days, said Home Minister Araga Jnanendra.

He told reporters here on Wednesday that the use of loudspeakers between 10 pm and 6 am is banned. While using it at other times, the decibels must be within the limits prescribed by the government. The details of decibels have been mentioned in the guidelines.

Besides, it has been clearly mentioned which officer can issue permission for the use of mikes and remove mikes used illegally. The permissible decibels for industrial, residential, commercial and silent zones have been mentioned. Even the permissible limit in private areas has been mentioned.

The minister said those who are using loudspeakers without permission must get consent from the authorities concerned within 15 days. Non-compliance with this order would be considered an offence and the loudspeakers would be seized. This order would be implemented strictly without giving any relief to churches, mosques and temples.
