Bengaluru: Cracking the murder case of the 75-year-old businessman in the city, Bengaluru police have arrested the accused who had allegedly absconded to Gujarat after the incident.
Sources from the police said that the accused was caught while trying to cross the Amirgadh border between Rajasthan and Gujarat.
On May 24, the businessman Jagguraj Jain was found brutally murdered at his residence near Chamarajpet. Police investigations speculated that the man hired as domestic help for the family, Bijuram, might be the prime suspect in the case.
It was revealed that Bijuram was a native of Jaipur and had been working for the family for the last six months. However, he had his own plans, police said.
After Jagguraj was found dead, a preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the elderly man was assaulted and tied up before being strangled by the accused. The accused had even flung chilly powder in the eyes of the deceased before tying him up. A huge amount of valuables including cash, gold and silver items were reportedly stolen from the house.
After Jagguraj was found dead, the police suspected that the accused might have fled to his native along with the stolen valuables.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru West, Sanjeev Patil, said that the accused is being brought to the city and that further investigation will be carried out.
