Godown catches fire, no casualties

Bengaluru: A fire broke out at a courier godown near K.R. Market flyover at Mysuru Circle, on Sunday afternoon, a fire department official said. Fortunately no casualties were reported as the godown was not operational.
The major cause for the concern of the people was that the building was just a few metres away from a petrol pump. However, the police and firefighters rushed to the spot on time and doused the fire, avoiding a major crisis.
“We spotted the smoke coming out of the building and alerted the firefighters and police immediately,” said a nearby shopkeeper. “It is not known how the fire broke out. Normally five to six people work in the godown. But the office remains closed on Sundays,” he added.
“The owner of the godown has been informed and we are trying to ascertain the cause of the fire breakout,” police said.
The officials suspect that a faulty electric connection might be the cause for the fire. Further the building had oils and other flammable items inside, they said.
