Police seize lethal weapons from the accused Umadevi’s house

Bengaluru: In the latest development,Bengaluru police, on Monday arrested a woman in the case involving the throwing of ink on farmer leaderRakesh Tikait while he was addressinga press conference in Bengalurulast week.Umadevi, the chairperson of a women’s organization in the city,was arrested by the Bengaluru High Grounds Police Station.

A police team raided her house and allegedly seized lethal weapons such as machetes and daggers, sources said . Earlier, the police had arrested three accused: Bharath Shetty, the presidentof Bharatha Rakshana Vedike, and two others identified as Shivakumar and Pradeep. The accused was holding the portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shouted pro-Modi sloganswhile being escorted in a police vehicle.

During the interrogation of the accused,Umadevi’s involvement in the attacks was also suspected, sources said. On May 30, the accused tossed a microphoneat Tikait and threw black ink over him during the press conference in Bengaluru.
