Police crack down on Money Heist-like robbers

Bengaluru: In a massive operation, the Whitefield division police cracked down upon gangs involved in robbery and theft cases in the city and recovered stolen valuables worth Rs 1.65 crore from them.
According to sources, the recovered valuables include 9 cars, 45 two-wheelers, 135 mobile phones, one laptop, five digital cameras, 150 grams of gold ornaments, and 1.5 kg of silver ornaments.

The operation was carried out by police personnel from HAL, Kadugodi, KR Puram, Marathahalli, Bellandur and Whitefield police stations.

It’s learnt that the entire operation started with the arrest of an accused identified as Charan Raj, who was residing near HAL police station limits.

The police said that the accused used social media sites as a meadium to lure people and steal their cars. The police claimed to have recovered eight cars and five cameras from the accused.
Kadugodi police arrested two accused, identified as Subhan and Saleem. Police said 23 two-wheelers were recovered following the duo’s arrest.

KR Puram police arrested seven people allegedly involved in vehicle theft and chain snatching cases. The accused were identified as Lokesh, who was involved in interstate theft cases; Ravi Tej, Jagan, Avala Kavadi, and Shashank were involved in two-wheeler thefts; and Shakti Vel was involved in mobile theft cases.

Cops said that 128 mobile phones, a sedan, two gold chains weighing 60 grams and 17 two-wheelers were recovered from their possession.

Six persons were arrested by the Marathahalli police for allegedly being involved in theft cases. The accused were identified as Shantha Kumar, Nasir, Ganesh, Gnana Prakash, Aravind and Joseph. Five two-wheelers, Seven mobile phones, gold ornaments weighing 80 grams, 1.15 kg of silver ornaments and a laptop were recovered from them, police said.

Bellandur police arrested three people identified as Raghu Nayak, Kempegowda and Arjun, and recovered nine two-wheelers and an auto-rickshaw from their possession.
All are currently being interrogated for more information. Investigations are underway, the cops added.
